Most owner-built businesses are not, and most owners find out too late. Readiness comes down to four things: profit a buyer can verify, a business that runs without you, clean books, and time to fix what is weak. Our free two-minute Readiness Score tells you where you stand today.

Only 20 to 30% of listed businesses actually sell. The four killers are pricing on sentiment instead of buyer math, owner dependency, messy financials, and starting preparation years too late. Every one of them is fixable, and fixing them is most of what we do.

Usually the same discount drivers: the business needs you daily, revenue leans on a few customers, the books mix personal and business spending, and there is no verifiable lead flow. At typical multiples, every $250,000 of added or proven EBITDA is worth roughly $1M at sale.

Median time on market runs about 198 days, and unprepared businesses run far longer or never close. A prepared business with multiple qualified buyers moves faster and holds its price. If you want to exit within two years, the preparation clock should start now.

A full independent valuation alone runs $12,000 to $20,000 elsewhere. Our model: an engagement fee to start, a light monthly retainer that keeps both sides serious, and a success fee at close, so the biggest part of our pay depends on your outcome.
